I Love Yard Sales

Yard sale season is now open.  Last Friday I hit one at our neighbor’s across the street.  They had this 3 piece bedroom suite out in the driveway.  It is real wood, no particle board.  It is from their mother and they have been moving it around for years and it was time to let it go.  The dressing table has a mirror that is still in amazing shape and the bedframe is for a full bed.  I plan to put the dresser and bed in one of the basement bedrooms.  The bed will eventually become Kora’s.  And I plan to put the dressing table in the foyer at the front door.  It has those nice drawers to stash stuff like purses, gloves, hats.  I am so excited with my find.  Did I mention I got all three pieces for $65?!  Now I just have to get them cleaned up and moved in.  I love yard sales.

Kora is 5 Months Old!

Dear Kora.  Another milestone is here and again I am amazed that it has gone so fast.  You are so much a part of our lives that it is hard to imagine that just a few months ago we were only waiting for you to arrive.

This has been a big month for you.  Not only are you laughing and interacting more but you are now rolling over.  You struggled with getting your shoulder tucked under you but you have that down now.  You only roll from your back to your belly.  The first time you did it you had this shocked look on your face that seemed to say “I’ve never seen things from this angle before!”  I have been trying to get this action on video but you are now rolled over before I can get the camera up.  You are so fast.148You also now have 2 teeth.  You went off feed for a couple of days (not completely) and you were really fussy.  You had been drooling like a saint bernard for weeks so we had been expecting a tooth but had begun to give up on it.  You never had a fever or any other signs so we were so surprised when you chomped down on my finger and it was sharp.  And I’m pretty sure they both showed up at the came time, or at least the second one came in over night.  They are both of your bottom front teeth.  So far these new teeth have not negatively affected our nursing so I am so proud of you for not hurting me.  You are so funny because you are still exploring them.  You work your little tongue over them and make the funniest faces.155

You are so much fun and such a delight.  I am so proud to have you in our life, sweet daughter.  I love you.

Kora is 4 Months Old

Dear Kora.  I cannot believe you have already been with us for 4 months.  I know, I say that every time but it is so true.  You are such a doll of a baby and I am so appreciative to have you in our life. You are sleeping at least 4 hours at a time which is so nice for Mommy.  And when you do get up you eat and are back asleep in about 15 minutes.  That is nice as well.

You are laughing out  loud now.  Just today Tucker and I were giving you zerberts on your tummy and you just laughed and laughed.  It was music to my ears and it delighted Tuck as well.  I am sure you are getting a tooth soon.  You are drooling like a St Bernard but you have been doing it for about 6 weeks now so all I can think is soon.

You cry before you go to sleep.  It is usually just one last shriek.  We can lay you down in your crib at night and within 10 minutes you are fast asleep.  So unlike Tucker, who had to be rocked until he was asleep.

You are staying with Mabel while we go to work.  She says you are such an easy baby as well.  Aside from her having to train  you to the bottle.  But you are a pro at that now for anyone but Mommy.  You still prefer it straight from the tap and I intend to keep breast-feeding for 9 months as least.DSC00687

Kora is Rolling Over!!!

It first happened on April 10, but it was a fluke.  She was shocked to discover that the scenery had changed.  But by thursday of the next week she had it down pretty good.  She goes from her back to her belly.  First she lifts her legs to play with her feet then she loses control and falls over to her side.  Now she can tuck her shoulder and get turned over real fast.  Here we are all celebrating her new view.

And of course, Tuck has to ham it up.

Take Your Daughter To Work Day

April 15 was Earth Day and Take Your Son or Daughter To Work Day.  I figured Kora was little enough she wouldn't be a bother.  I was right but for reasons I did not figure on.  I figured she would eat and nap and we wouldn't hear a thing from her.  Boy was I wrong.  She could not get enough of checking things out.  She didn't hardly make a peep, but only because she was too busy looking around.  I think there were 3 naps 10 minutes each.  But Aunt Deb sure loved having her there and Gary tolerated her.
I won't do this again for a few years when they are both older and able to help.

HIKE

A couple of weeks ago we went hiking in Shades State Park with some friends.  Tuck's word for the day was "HIKE".  He and Elizabeth has such fun exploring the trails.

Getting a better view
I wore Kora.  She took it all in for a while and then fell sound asleep with a bad case of the head bobs.
TJ was wanting to do some mushroom hunting but ended up chasing Tucker.  They found a turtle and we got a lesson on how to tell if a turtle is a boy or a girl.  It has to do with whether the underside of their shell is concave or not.  It's like a puzzle.

Tree Fort

We have 3 of the biggest Norway Spruce trees in our yard.  Tucker just discovered that he can get "inside" one of them and he has laid claim to it as his fort.  He likes to climb on the branches.
