Ear Infection, Still

This is Dr Joshi our pediatrician.  We love her and her staff.  They make doctor visits, if not fun, then at least more tolerable. DSC01552

2 weeks ago the kids and I were all sick.  I had bronchitis and they each had ear infections.  We went yesterday for follow up checks.  Tuck was fine but alas Kora still has hers.  In fact this is lingering from late May/early June.  She has been on amoxicillin, cefdinir, and now we are starting augmentin.  I dread this one because I know what it does to my stomach.  If it doesn’t work she will get a shot of antibiotic and the next step will be a visit to an ear nose and throat specialist for tubes.  Dr Joshi says she is just so little and her ear canals are so little that they just aren’t draining.  Couple this with teething and our little girl is just a mess.  She is a lot like the Tuckman though and you just don’t know for sure that she is sick.  She doesn’t run a fever and just isn't a fussy baby.  It’s really minor things that even indicate she is sick.  I sure hope we can get this infection under control.

Wabash and Erie Canal in Delphi

This is a catch-up post.  On June 19th Aunt Mary, Felix, Angie, Elizabeth, Tucker Kora and I went to Delphi for the grand opening of the new features at the Wabash and Erie Canal Visitors Center.  It was a GREAT day as you will soon see.  We all had a ball.

The kids LOVED playing on the canal boat.  This one was donated and has been retrofitted as a playground for the kids.  They can climb on all the decks where all the cargo was once stored.  There is a slide and monkey bars and lots and lots of ladders (Mommy was a little apprehensive about Tucker climbing on all of those but Angie was a real sport and supervised and kept my heart at rest.)

Tucker got to pet the horses.  This lady was riding side saddle and was a real pleasure to visit with.  And of course, Tuck love the horse.

The kids all enjoyed playing in the visitor center.  This is the concrete pig that Tucker really wanted to ride.DSC01590

And we got to play dress up.  Isn’t he just so cute in his bonnet? DSC01592

Felix found a shirt to try on and I just adore the sleeping bonnet.  I felt like “Half Pint” from Little House on the Prairie, getting ready for bed.

They had these 3 wheeled trolley’s for rent.  The kids liked sitting on them and ringing the bell.

This is a really good picture of my Aunt Mary.  She claims there is no such thing as a good picture of her but this is the best I’ve seen.  The kids call her Aunt Nana.  DSC01600  DSC01604

This is Angie and and Elizabeth.  Angie and I work together and Elizabeth is just 6 months older than Tuck.  He and “Little E” are good buddies.

Aunt Mary and Felix rented one of the trolleys (for 15 minutes).  Felix loved it (especially running thru all of the puddles); Aunt Mary, not so much.DSC01625

There was a whole group of folks with the high wheel bicycles.  They were a treat to watch.

And of course the day is not complete until you get to throw rocks in the canal. DSC01612

Here we all are on the canal boat ride.  The water was up with all of the rain so we could not make it under one of the bridges.  We had fun looking over the edge for fish and turtles and listening to the narrators who were all in period dress.DSC01613

He even has his corn cob pipe. DSC01621

There was a replica of the canal with scale boats and locks.  The kids spent A LOT of time here.  They were soaked.  DSC01629 DSC01633

This little band played for us while we rested in the shade and had ice cream.  They played Wheels on the bus for the kids and they were mesmerized by the puppet playing the banjo. Kora slept thru this part.DSC01636

Here comes another canal boat!DSC01641

See you next time

Kora Crawls

Here is the action shot!

DSC01741

It’s Official: Kora is Crawling!!!

Yup, there’s no turning back now.  Kora is on the move.  It’s amazing how fast she progressed, although I think I recall saying the same thing about Tuck.  Once they figure out they can move around there is no stopping them.  I swear, in a week, she went from the army crawl, to “rolling” from bottom to knees and back to bottom, and last night she followed Tuck and I from the living room down the hall to the bedroom and then just went nuts crawling around on the shag carpeting.  We are back to baby proofing the house again now.

Kora’s First Cheerios

I had not even thought about Kora being big enough to handle Cheerios but alas they were a huge hit!   Now she is all about them.  Her own little bit of independence.  We are so proud.

Kora is Mobile

It’s true!  As of June 16 at 6 1/2 months, Kora is mobile.  She is getting up on her knees and flopping forward.  DSC01502

DSC01519 Most of it is actually backwards at this point.DSC01527Tuck is mimicking Kora, here, doing the bridge. I do not remember when Tuck started crawling but I think Kora is ahead of him.  She just seems to want to be in the middle of things.DSC01529

We are back to having to baby proof again.  It is amazing the number of tiny toys a 2 year old can accumulate.

Nap Time with Dad

I just love this picture.  Ahh, my boys.

Obstacle Course at Missy’s

TJ and I put together an obstacle course for the kids at Missy’s.  They had a ball.

First they rolled the giant ball around the orange cones… or over them as Tuck did.  Then they went up and over the slide.

DSC01473 Next they threw bean bags into a laundry basket.DSC01476

Then they crawled through the tunnelDSC01489Threw the pool ring over the baseball tee DSC01477Walked across the 2x4 balance beam.  Here Tuck is really concentrating! DSC01478  Then they crawled under a broom laid across 2 chairs and walked backwards to the finish line.  And finally it was time for their popsicle prize!DSC01483 Missy said it was a hit since we kept their attention for over 15 minutes.  They all ran through it at least 2 times and then played with the stuff the rest of the afternoon.  What fun!
