The Hazards of Marrying Late

I was looking through pictures this afternoon and ran across some from our wedding.  My cousin, had a hold of the camera and took these photos, unbeknownst to the subjects, I think.  These are all of TJ’s best men.  All of us were well into our 30’s.

I didn’t see these until well after we were home from the honeymoon and they still make me giggle.

This is the reason you should marry when you are young, thin and beautiful.  If I had only known…..

Thanks guys for making our day so much fun.  We love you all.

Kora Climbs

She did it!  It took lots of grunting and frustrated hollering but she finally did it. She climbed up on the chair all by herself.  She was able to stand on the bottom rung, hang onto the back supports and pull herself up.

Then she was able to play with Tucker and all of the toys he had set up so carefully on the table.  It only took her about 15 minutes to get up onto the table and completely clear it.

She was dangerously close to the edge of the chair and only fell off one time.  There were a couple of close calls when she was trying to back off of the table and wasn’t lined up properly with the chair. Mommy saved the day.

She was so proud of herself and full of cheesy grins.

Now we can’t keep her off of any of the tables in the house.

Papaw’s helper

So I have been single handedly keeping my Dad busy this winter.  I have had this project in mind for months but just didn’t have the tools or time to get it done.  I wanted some hooks for the kids coats, hung at kid level.  Last week I found these cute hooks on sale at Hobby Lobby.  I gave them to Dad and asked him to make a board for them.  He had this done in 2 days then came over to mount them on Saturday.

Tuck wanted to help so badly.

Aren’t these just the cutest?

I still need to go get one more hook for the second one.  I had originally planned on only one but the wall made a change in the design necessary.  Now though, they are personalized, and if I get tired of them in the foyer, we can take them to the kids rooms or maybe the basement.

Once again, Dad, you worked your magic and brought my vague idea to life.  You are the best.  Love you!!!

Papaw’s Story Time

While Dad was over last weekend Tucker talked him into reading him a story.  He chose Alexander’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

DSC02931

I had not heard Dad read to the kids so I was surprised when he narrated and expounded on the story. It was really funny!

He DID NOT like it when Alexander got gum in his hair.  That would make for a very bad day!

Love you Papaw!

Tucker HATES Ladybugs

I know, it is a weird fear.  Almost as bad as his mother’s fear of frogs, but I digress. Last winter they seemed to be so thick in the house.  There were many a day that he would get “trapped” in the bathroom because he would go toddling in, not seeing the ladybug on the floor, but upon trying to leave he was paralyzed and stuck in the room. He would just yell until someone came to rescue him.

I thought this winter he would be bigger and fearless but alas no.

This morning he was playing with his horses and guys in the kitchen and suddenly he just starts screaming.  Scared me to death until I figured out what the problem was… a ladybug had crossed his path.  So Tuck jumps up, runs to the hall closet and returns with a Ball jar.  And this is what happened.

He trapped it until I could come and take care of the situation.

What a funny kiddo.

The New Kitchen

Gamma Deb has a play kitchen at her house and Tuck just loves playing with it. But they are really expensive.  I was searching for one online before Christmas and found homemade ones.  So I gave the idea to Papaw and voila!

This started out as an entertainment center.

He replaced the glass door with wood, painted it with magnetic paint so we can use real magnets.  There is a real timer on the microwave.  I had the picture frame and an old calendar. Grandma Nanny is making curtains for the window and a washcloth and potholder. And I have been making some felt food.  Here is a sampling. I have plans for the makings of a sandwich, gingerbread cookies and pancakes/tortillas.

My intention was to make this Dad’s winter project but he was inspired and had it done in less than 2 weeks.  Upon delivery, this is the first thing Kora did.  Don’t tell anyone that my daughter was in the oven. Smile
